Global War on Terrorism: 995th Maintenance Company

About 150 soldiers of the 995th Maintenance Company were mobilized on May 23, 2005 and sent to the West Coast in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Headquartered in Smith Center, the company also had units in Mankato, Belleville, and Phillipsburg. It was commanded 1LT Lonnie Brungardt, Almena. Its mission was to perform mechanical maintenance on military equipment bound for and coming from U. S. military operations used in the global war on terrorism. The mission lasted a total of 180 days, before the soldiers were returned to their home stations.
